Welcome Home

It’s a simple job: find a missing girl. Of course, nothing is ever simple in the shadows, and a whole lot of people seem to be interested in this job for one reason or another.

Welcome to Season Four of the Missions Campaign, which returns home to the Emerald Sprawl, Seattle. Biz is good as a political fight is brewing to determine the fate of the vast Ork Underground, and everyone seems to be fighting over the mysterious artifacts flowing into the city. If you’re going to get through this, remember the basics: Shoot straight, watch your back, and never, ever deal with a dragon. Oh, and collect a hefty payday along the way!

Shadowrun Missions is an living campaign, giving players the opportunity to have adventures that share the same setting and have fun while doing it. Missions are played at local game stores, conventions, game days, and as home games. Open Season!

If the Ork Underground is going to become an official district in Seattle, it’s going to need some cleaning up. Even if it’s not, some of the criminals down there have a pesky habit of bringing their activities to the surface, and plenty of people want them eliminated. Seattle law enforcement has had enough, and ADA Dana Oaks is determined to bring down some of the higher-profile criminals of the Underground—starting with a mob enforcer who goes by the name of Junior.

Criminals in the Underground don’t go down easy, though, and shadowrunners are going to have to use all their skills to track Junior down. When they find him, they might discover that their task isn’t quite as straightforward as they may have thought.

Continuing plotlines started in "SRM 04-00: Back in Business", "Hiding in the Dark" introduces new characters while giving the runners the chance to solidify their friendships with characters they met in the previous adventure—or maybe make new enemies, or even drive wedges of enmity even deeper.

Corporate Headhunting

Parker Acson is a hot property. Horizon has just hired him, but they’re the only ones who want him. Acson has gotten the attention of plenty of players in the magical arena, and several of them are interested in getting a piece of him. The runners have been hired to extract Acson by a mysterious Mr. Johnson, and they’re going to have to move quickly to get him out safely. There is plenty of competition out there, and not all of them are interested in Acson staying alive and intact.

SRM 04-02: Extraction throws runners into a den of lions and lets them claw their way out. Its novel structure presents plenty of possibilities and allows the players to choose who will become their allies while seeing what kind of enemies they can create.

Set in Seattle, Extraction continues the artifacts-related plot strand of the fourth season of Missions. It is intended for use with Shadowrun, Twentieth Anniversary Edition.

The Politics of Deception

Whoever wins the war for the future of the Ork Underground is not going to leave a single weapon holstered. From waging outright violence to employing political subterfuge, both sides in the struggle are willing to use any tactics they can dream of to advance their cause.

Anti-metahuman sentiment has long been a hot-button issue in Seattle, and some members of the Ork Rights Committee have decided to expose one of Governor Brackhaven’s cronies for the racist they believe him to be. The only trouble is, people with a high public profile are usually very careful about keeping up appearances. If the ORC is going to support their accusations of racism, they may need some help in getting — or manufacturing — the evidence they need. That, of course, is where shadowrunners come in.

Shadowrun Missions 04-03: Rally Cry continues the ongoing season of Missions by testing runners’ stealth and daring as they place a high-ranking politician exactly where he doesn’t want to be — and then hang on as tensions at competing public rallies boil over and threaten to engulf the runners, and a good portion of the city besides.

Rally Cry can be played in sequence with other Missions or as a standalone adventure, and is for use with Shadowrun, Twentieth Anniversary Edition.

Stay Secret, Stay Safe
Crossing the border into Salish-Shidhe territory is not easy under the best of circumstances. Crossing when you’re carrying an item that lights up the astral plane like a phosphorus bomb is even trickier. But the stakes are rising in the fight over magical artifacts that keep finding their way into the Seattle area, and that means the possible payouts are going up as well. If you can play the role of a smuggler to the hilt and make all the right contacts, you have the chance for a serious payday. Of course, you also stand a good chance of making some very powerful enemies, but isn’t that always the way?
SRM 04-04: Smuggler’s Blues continues the latest series of Shadowrun Missions, building on the plotline that focuses on the magic powers of the city and the lengths they’ll go to go get what they want. Players have a chance to affect ongoing plotlines and shape the future of Seattle in the Sixth World by playing Missions.

Be Afraid of the Dark

The Sixth World is full of dark crevasses and corners where people can hide. Where they can go when the rest of the world has told them they don’t belong. Where they can be forgotten. People who disappear into these places become secrets, whispered threats of a mysterious something that lurks just out of sight.

Some people — the normal ones, the sane ones — avoid these dark corners and any danger they might be hiding, but shadowrunners don’t have that choice. The dark corners are where they live. So when Mr. Johnson needs some information that’s hidden in one of these places, you know that he’s not going after it himself. He’ll send some runners instead and let them deal with whatever might be waiting for them.

SRM 04-06: Hard Target continues the ongoing series of Shadowrun Missions, further entangling runners in the hunt for powerful artifacts in Seattle. Whether you’ve played through all the Missions in this sequence or you’re coming into the storyline for the first time, Hard Target gives players the chance to dive into Shadowrun and confront the creatures that live in the Sixth World’s night.

The Heat of Friction

If constant friction makes things hot, then the Ork Underground is ready to blaze. Proposition 23, known to some as “Project Freedom,” is coming closer to a vote, and it could make the Ork Underground a full district of the city of Seattle. People on both sides are willing to do just about anything to make the vote go their way, and they’re demonstrating that willingness with blades, bullets, explosives, and more. This has become more than a fight for votes—it’s a struggle for survival.

SRM 04-07: Burn is the latest in the Shadowrun Missionsseries looking at events in the Underground and their impact on the rest of the city. Runners will be thrown into the chaos with the chance to bring some perpetrators of recent violence to justice. If they survive, they may also learn about the deeper conspiracies behind the violence that is shaking the Underground.

SRM 04-07: Burn can be played as part of the ongoing series of Missions or as a standalone adventure. It’s for use with Shadowrun, Twentieth Anniversary Edition.

Fates Worse Than Death

A girl is missing. Finding her would be a nobler mission than most shadowrunners normally pursue, which means there must be a catch. And there is. The runners’ job starts at a talismongers and then brings them to a Barrens orphanage. If they’re observant enough, they’ll be launched on a journey that will take them through dark tunnels, past dangerous entities, and, eventually, to a supposedly abandoned building that holds at least two dark secrets. If they’re lucky, they’ll find Ruth alive. If they’re unlucky, they’ll find her alive and transformed.

In SRM 04-08: Brothers United, runners have some difficult obstacles and tough opponents to face if they want to reach their final goal. Along the way, they may discover that there are indeed some fates worse than death, but they’ll also get a reminder that death is bad enough.

SRM 04-08: Brothers United is the latest in the Shadowrun Missions living campaign, giving players the chance to be involved in pivotal events shaping the Sixth World. It is for use with Shadowrun, Twentieth Anniversary Edition.

Leave Nothing on the Table

When the campaigning is done, the debates are over, and the voters are heading out to cast their votes, it’s time for the final push. Whether you’re fighting for a particular candidate or a specific cause, you don’t want to feel like there was more you could have done, that there was one more gambit you could have pulled to put your side over the top. Now is your final chance to make a difference before the votes are counted.

It’s Election Day in Seattle, and there’s plenty up for grabs, including the future of the Ork Underground. The power players of the sprawl want things to go their way—whatever way that may be—and they’re not pulling any punches. They’re dumping out their bags of tricks, and naturally some of those tricks involve giving money to shadowrunners. Whether they’re being asked to start riots between voters or find an operative who is sitting on too many secrets, they’re going to have a busy day, and their actions will shape the future of Seattle. With any luck, they’ll be alive to see it.

SRM 04-11: Election Day is the latest in the Shadowrun Missions series, the living campaign for Shadowrun. Involving players in the chaos and power plays of a Seattle election, it’s a great next step for players who have played through this whole series of Missions, or a great first step for players looking to step in when the action gets hot.

SRM 04-11: Election Day is for use with Shadowrun, Twentieth Anniversary Edition.

Shock Compression

The players are lined up. The goals are clear. The waiting is over. The ultimate rush is beginning, and it’s going to pull a lot of dangerous elements closer and closer together until they explode.

The shadows of Seattle have been heaved this way and that in the Great Seattle Artifact Rush, and a fair number of artifacts have been collected (in exchange for a handful of deaths and a helping of destruction). The powers of the magical world have been alerted, and they ready to get their hands on as many artifacts as possible. This means shadowruns, which means plenty of runners are about to be caught up in one of the worst mana-based drek-storms to hit the city in a long while.

What starts as an investigation into a museum heist rapidly grows into a conflagration that could consume a good part of the sprawl. Clever players will need to see if they can survive, and how much nuyen they can wrangle out of the fight. Hopefully they'll get enough for a nice vacation or significant medical treatment, because chances are that they're going to need both.

SRM 04-12: Showcase is the latest in the Shadowrun Missions living campaign. Whether you’ve been playing the whole fourth series of Missions now and are ready for an explosive turn to the ongoing story, or you are new to the series and are looking for a high-stakes, high-danger run, Showcaseis ready for you, with the full adventure details and NPC stats needed to give players one of those shadowruns they'll be talking about for years.
